Pourerere Beach has two settlements - one as you enter the beach which is where you access the lagoon, and the second settlement with original baches, boat launch and camping ground is at the far end of the gravel road.
There is plenty to do at Pourerere if you don’t want to get your toes wet. Set up the picnic, watch the boats launch, children play and dogs run on the beach.
The lagoon changes and moves with the tides and river flow, so it’s different each summer and a great way for young children to enjoy the beach without the big waves.
The walk back to the car or bach at the end of the day, sun-kissed and covered in sand is a true sign of summer.
