Showcasing some of EIT artists and designers’ works, its intention is simply to make you feel HAPPY. As a community, Hawke’s Bay needs uplifting of its spirit following what has been a hard year and a bit following Cyclone Gabrielle.

The exhibition is directed and curated by Liv Wilson, a 3rd year Design student at EIT Ideaschool and the recipient of the David Fine Scholarship. The exhibition is supported by the David Fine Trust.

chipper. intends and aims to boost and bring together a community that has had many knocks in the last 18 months. At its heart, the exhibition aspires to implement positive change in the community, in a light-hearted and fun way.

Creativity is a means to bring people together. And what a better way to do that than through an exhibition of this nature. The exhibition works at three levels:

1. To support local creatives.
2. To highlight the amazing work done by the David Fine Trust and the Hastings Community Art Centre.
3. To perk you up!

Liv says "Through my work and in putting together a showcase of this nature, I have learnt a lot about what it means to be happy.
Having come from a background of experiencing mental health problems, this project has been a catalyst for positive change in my 20s. I’ve been able to work on a project I am truly passionate about while being creative at the same time.

I’ve realised that often it’s the simple things that make people happy, after years of feeling that understanding my brain is difficult, confusing and complicated; sometimes all I need is a laugh, or a healthy distraction. I hope through this showcase you will be enlightened and able to escape from the seriousness that everyday life can bring."
